Palestinian-Egyptian currently pursuing a degree in Law and International Relations at the University of Edinburgh. In Scotland, Hajar is involved in numerous activist groups for the justice of Palestine (university based as well as nation-wide), as well as the Kurdish community center and affiliated solidarity groups focusing on indigenous groups of resistance worldwide. Since leaving Lebanon in 2020, Hajar developed a deep interest in music and journalistic film photography to capture the unisonance of music and creative expression in the Middle East. In 2022, she began a DJ duo (DJ Shahrazadi) with her friend in Edinburgh, to introduce the Middle Eastern cultural scene to the nightlife scene abroad, uniting people of the diaspora, and exploring specific sounds evocative of larger socio-cultural trends, resonances and realities.
