Maya Jabaei is a journalist for the online section of the Al Sharq Al Awsat network, MBN Broadcasting, which runs Radio Sawa and the Al Hurra channel. Maya received an MA in media and communications from the Higher Institute of Literatures and the Humanities at the Lebanese University, writing her thesis on digital news sites in Lebanon and the ways in which journalists work there.

Maya has worked for a number of local Lebanese newspapers, covering conferences and briefings on issues relating to women, violence, social responsibility, post-revolution political transformations in the Arab world, the post-Assange phenomenon of data leaks, as well as participating at a number of media workshops in Lebanon.

Maya further worked as a journalist for the website of the Al Arab channel in Bahrain.

She is interested in issues related to new media and freedoms.
