Jocelyne Cesari is Research Associate at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University. As Director of the Islam in the West Program (www.euro-islam.info), she contributed to the publication of the Encyclopedia of Islam in the United States. Her research focuses on Islam, globalization as well as Muslim minorities in the US and Europe. She also coordinates the web-based initiative on contemporary Islamic thought islamopediaonline.org and is the scientific coordinator of euro-islam.info. Her recent publications include When Islam and Democracy Meet: Muslims in Europe and in the United States (2006) and European Muslims and the Secular State (2005).
