Yahya Alous is a Syrian journalist living in Berlin. He was the editor in chief for al-Thara, a leading women’s rights e-magazine in Syria. He spent two years in prison for writing articles on corruption and human rights which criticised the regime. Between 2011 and 2015 he worked for al-Hayat and is now a columnist for Süddeutsche Zeitung and Handelsblatt.
