The fourth edition of The Almost There film festival on human rights and migration took place at the Metropolis Empire Sofil from June 13 to 16, 2019, featuring artists, journalists and activists driven by their belief in a cause, as well as examining questions around documenting, narrating and remembering. In different ways, all of them are going beyond limits: limits imposed by politics, by society or by personal circumstances. They are doing everything they can to claim their own rights and those of others, to realize their dreams and assert their dignity. Across the world, the principle of equality is being undermined, and people’s rights hollowed out. In response to this trend, we began the festival with a discussion on Women’s Rights as Human Rights, a conversation about how we can support women taking agency and standing up.
